The Source of ALL of the data plus disclaimer

Disclaimer: To the best of my ability, I wrote the applications to parse/tally up the data. As with any software, there is always that chance that there may have been a mistake(s). If any mistake(s) are identified, I will correct them and offer a thank you/apologie for posting anything that may have been unintentionally incorrect. I shall not be held responsible for any consequences arising from the use the material presented here. All information is subject to corrections as additional data are received. I am grateful to anyone who discovers discrepancies and we appreciate learning of the details.

The famous/popular baseball reference site ( https://www.baseball-reference.com/ ) uses this data. Please note the data contained with the samples is denoted by the disclaimer made at retrosheet.org regarding the validity of the data. This was done for fun and out of interest and passion for the game.




About the data files we are using.

    The information used here was obtained free of
     charge from and is copyrighted by Retrosheet.  Interested
     parties may contact Retrosheet at "www.retrosheet.org".

The format of the data for the gamelogs:



Contains game logs, inning by inning / game by game data.


The tools used: A very well known set of programming languages to transform the retrosheet dataset game log files to be fed into python utilizing statistics libraries and charting utilities such as. Time permitting we could make it into an interactive site but the lack of time (full time jobs during the day) may prevent it from being interactive. It will be static pages for a while :-/

This site here shows other sources (including the Lahman database) of where you can get data.

For Sean's data, you can use Excel or SQL Server to import the data.



Statistics are never a guarantee of anything. In these tests we ran, we are not inferring/predicting the future. Just showing what happened in the past and how the team(s) fared in the given scenarios. ZScores are a very powerful tool.
