The input data files used

Updated: Oct 30, 2020

Have enclosed both data files.

Note: Wrote an engine in a popular programming language that walked thru the data files from retrosheet. It applied the business logic and tallied the data accordingly to the scenarios that I was analyzing. Formatted the output to the data files that you see below.

Although every attempt was made to be as careful as possible in coding and testing and ran numerous tests, we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy although that is/was the goal at all times.

If you notice anything, please let me know and the correction will be made.. :-)

Data File1 the totals for the whole season.

Data File2 are the totals for the whole season with the exception of any of the games that are won or lost after the team has been eliminated from the post season. Why? This was a fun study to profile a more realistic "motivation to win"-scenario. Teams that are still eligible for the post season may/will try harder to win. We still count those comeback wins/ and blown lead losses. For teams that have been eliminated, we stop counting those comeback wins/blow lead losses for any of the dates "after" they have been eliminated.

You'll have to scroll down here but they're here.
